Discover the Chianti region from Florence: from Siena to the medieval village of San Gimignano, enjoy a unique experience in the Tuscan countryside!
From Florence, you'll set off for a day's sightseeing in the heart of Tuscany.
You'll start the day with a visit to San Gimignano, an ancient fortified medieval stronghold perched high in the Tuscan countryside. Accompanied by a tour leader, you'll reach the town center and enjoy 2 hours of free time to soak up the atmosphere of this picturesque village and admire its fortified towers, frescoes and works of art.
Continue your excursion to the pretty fortified village of Monteriggioni. You'll enjoy some free time to let yourself be charmed by this small, oval-shaped village surrounded by ramparts (stop included only between April and October).
You'll then take to the road between the hills of Chianti and stop at a local vineyard to visit the estate and winery. The visit will be punctuated by a tasting of 3 wines from the region accompanied by local produce and followed by a Tuscan lunch featuring local produce and the typical cantucci (Tuscan cookies with almonds or hazelnuts) and vino santo.
After lunch, head for Sienne, medieval treasure par excellence! You'll explore its historic center, a Unesco World Heritage site, accompanied by a professional guide. Then you'll stroll through the contrade of the town, through small streets and squares to discover the basilica of Saint Dominic, a 13th-century Renaissance gem, the librairie Piccolomini with its incredible works and curiosities, and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, renowned for its rich architecture and polychrome marble.
The guided tour of Siena will end on the sublime Piazza del Campo, shaped like a shell, on which you'll admire the Palazzo Publico, the city's town hall. Enjoy a final free time before heading back to Florence.
