Take advantage of a small-group excursion from Paris to visit the historic sites of the Normandy landings in 1944 !
Between June and August 1944, the region witnessed the fighting of the Battle of Normandy, which enabled the Allied forces to open up a new front in Europe against the Germans.
You'll leave Paris in the morning by coach, where you'll be able to take in the scenery on the way to the landing beaches. You'll have the chance to see the Pointe du Hoc, a small outcrop on the Normandy coast famous for the Rangers' heroic assault, while listening to your guide's comments and anecdotes.
Afterwards, you'll have the opportunity to walk on the most famous of the D-Day landing beaches, Omaha Beach. On the morning of June 6, the Americans stormed this 6-kilometre long beach and faced heavily-equipped German defences.
You'll also discover the Saint-Laurent American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-mer, overlooking Omaha Beach, erected in honor of the American soldiers who fought and died in the Battle of Normandy.
You can then relax over lunch in a refined restaurant, where you can sample Normandy cuisine.
Finally, you can choose between a visit to Juno Beach, one of the main beaches captured by the Canadians during the Normandy landings of June 6, 1944, or a tour of Arromanches, an Allied man-made port.
