Description

Take a trip out of Paris with this 2-day tour of the major Châteaux of the Loire Valley!

Constructed during the Renaissance, the Châteaux of the Loire Valley played host to the French court and Kings until the dissolution of the monarchy in the late 18th century. These former royal residences are brimming with artistic and architectural treasures for you to admire.

The high number of remarkable monuments found in this region has resulted in the entire Loire Valley being listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. So come and see this exceptional historic region for yourself!

The itinerary for the 2-day excursion is as follows:

Day 1

Your coach will take the Aquitaine road as far as Amboise for a guided tour of the château. After free time for lunch, you will travel to Clos Lucé, the home of Leonardo da Vinci from 1516 to his death in 1519.

The trip will continue with a guided tour of the gardens of Villandry, which are split over three levels: the upper terrace, the ornamental garden and the kitchen garden. After this, you will head to Tours for a guided tour of the old town, famous for its medieval houses.

In the evening, your group will check in to the Mercure Tours Nord hotel (or accommodation of equivalent standing) where you will have dinner before retiring for the night.

Day 2

The bus will set out bright and early to take you to the three most prestigious Loire Châteaux. You will start the day with a guided tour of the Chenonceau Château, famous for its fine art collections. Your journey will then continue to Cheverny, with a guided tour of the stately residence which inspired the Moulinsart Château in Hergé's Tintin. You will also have lunch at the site.

In the afternoon, travel to the royal palace of Chambord, the largest of the Loire Châteaux, where you will be taken on a guided tour of the grounds.

The bus will leave Chambord at around 4:30pm for the return journey to Paris.
