Description

Chambord, Chenonceau, Cheverny: come and discover the world-renowned Loire Châteaux! Dating back to the Renaissance, the Loire Châteaux were often frequented by the French kings and their courtiers.

Due to the vast number of remarkable monuments in the Loire Valley, the entire region has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. So come and explore these exceptional historic landscapes!

A coach will take you from Paris to Chambord. Upon arrival, you will go on a tour of the royal residence and its estate. After the tour of Chambord you will explore the Château of Cheverney, which was the comic-book illustrator Hergé's inspiration for the Château of Moulinsart in Tintin. You will be able to access its various rooms, notably the private drawing rooms.

After lunch your afternoon will be spent visiting the Château of Chenonceau, famous for its remarkable art collections.

Please note: on Saturdays and Mondays between April and October, the tour will include the châteaux of Amboise, Chenonceau and Chambord (apart from October 3, 5, 10 and 12, when Chambord is closed and will be replaced by a a visit to Cheverny).

  • Great day trip to visit castles outside of the hustle and bustle of Paris, this was one of the highlights of our trip! We really enjoyed visiting the French countryside and learning about the vast history of the Loire Valley and its castles! The bus was comfortable, which was great since it takes about 3 hours to get to the first castle, and our tour guide Rocio was very knowledgeable. The castles were also a lot less crowded than other attractions near Paris, such as the Palace of Versailles. A couple of things that were unexpected that may be good to be aware of: - The description of the day trip on this site makes it seem like you will visit 3 castles. In reality, you only visit 2, and the tour guide said this was typical for a day trip. It's only if you go on the 2-3 days trip that you will see more. We went on a Monday, which meant we saw Amboise and Chenonceau. There would definitely not have been time to see a third castle. - We opted to have our tour guided in Spanish. Our guide was great, but she was also guiding the tour in Italian at the same time. This meant that for our first castle, Amboise, we had to hear all the explanations twice in two languages. This left less time to visit the castle and grounds on your own, and for eating lunch. We felt a bit rushed at the end and didn't get to explore the beautiful town. For the castle of Chenonceau, she split up the groups so that we either had the guided tour or free time first, and this was a lot better. - At the castle of Chenonceau, we had a complimentary wine tasting, which was great! Overall this was a great trip and I would definitely recommend to others!
